GTE works in partnership with customer-facing teams to innovate and build reliable and secure products and services across many industries.

Role Description Summary

The Designer / Functional Analyst will work closely with each of the disciplines within the Delivery Team (Product Owner, Business Analysts, Architecture, Development and Testing) to ensure solution design and implementation is in line with the business requirements.

Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis.

Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal parties to analyze information needs for functional requirements and deliver the artefacts as needed : Business Requirements Document, Functional Specification Document in form of epics and / or user stories, Use Cases, reports specifications.

Works with developers for functional trouble-shooting and resolution of reported defects, production incidents and issues from user acceptance testing (UATs).

Supporting testing on behalf of users (UAT), operations and testing teams, potentially including test plans, test cases, test data and review of interface testing between different applications.

Responsibilities / Tasks

  • Gather business requirements and translate them in functional specifications;
  • Analysis of operational and data warehouse reporting requirements;
  • Analysis of Operational Data Store (or ODS ) requirements related to interface to Finance Accounting Hub (FAH), Service & Data Mastering(SDM), Operational Event Store(OES), Pricing and Merchant Settlement (PMS) and Reference Data Store(RDS) ;
  • Understanding of ODS layer for interface to FAH, OES, SDM, RDS, PMS;
  • Take the low level requirements / report attributes and map these to the physical model;
  • Produce Design Specs (up to the level of SQL queries) ready to be consumed by developers;
  • Makes sure designs are reviewed and approved by business SMEs and Functional designers of respective areas touched by report;
  • Alignment with other reporting functions (e.g. EDP) where needed;
  • Work closely with Business SMEs and Technology Team / Technical Architects / Enterprise Architects / Solution Architects / Functional Design Team leads;
  • Understanding of the Logical Data Models (or LDM ), Physical Data Models (or PDM ) and updated Business Data Dictionary preferable;
  • Define reference data and any changes required in enterprise reference data for each report;
  • Raise physical data model changes required to design and build changes;
  • Hands-on experience in using PL / SQL to analyze data, facilitate the inspection, extraction, transformation and produce SQL queries;
  • Attend Sprint Planning, Design Review, Showcase & Retrospectives;
  • Ensure Acceptance Criteria achieve Product Owner or Business sign-off.
  • Experience / Exposure

  • Sound understanding and experience of the Agile software development lifecycle
  • Experience with different requirements tracking systems like JIRA
  • Working experience with Oracle BI Publisher and / or Oracle Business Intelligence or other BI systems is a big plus
  • Working experience with different RDMS or DW (any of Oracle, MS SQL Server, others) and SQL, PL / SQL language
  • Experience of working on large scale reporting solutions / applications
  • Experience of working across the whole software development & support lifecycle
  • Experience of working with offshore partner organizations;
  • Experience in interacting and understanding of complex databases and ETL processes
  • Strong analytical skills, able to provide support to solve business or production problems
  • Excellent communication skills, able to articulate technical and non-technical issues
  • Highly collaborative, supportive and team player that demonstrates a proactive can do’ attitude
