Key Purpose of the Role :
Oracle Database Administrator within Worldpay I&O Acquiring Platform Systems to support development & production system in 18X5 shift support model.
Responsible for the maintenance and support of multiple database environments and live services, to enable Worldpay to provide a highly available enterprise quality service to our merchants and customers, working alongside Infrastructure and Operations teams based in the UK, USA, Romania and Indore.
Oracle DBA will be working 40 hours per week from Monday Friday with flexibility to work from 4 AM UK time or alternatively till 9 : 30 PM UK time, to support our non-
production and production systems. This time frame is flexible. Periodic callout cover will be provided by Oracle DBA on need base.
The Oracle DBA will work with our Design and Engineering, plus development project teams to help improve existing and deliver new application functionality making sure procedures, policies and best practices are kept up to date.
The role will include responsibility of database delivery on projects; including new implementations, performance tuning, availability enhancements and database migrations
Key Responsibilities :
Support and administration of Production, Pre Production (PPE) and Test / Development database environments.
1st and 2nd line support for database administration activities.
Ensuring availability and performance of the databases to business application.
Support database component for application releases, migrations and upgrades.
Experience in patching database environment with one off & bundle patches.
Database upgrade and migration.
Monitoring database components with OEM.
Oracle database technologies - 11gR2 12c.
Database configuration management.
Backup and data archiving RMAN, datapump.
Database security, in particular TDE & usage of wallets.
Implementation & maintenance of Role Based access controls for databases
Capacity planning and database scaling
Multi-site high availability and disaster recovery, including load balancing RAC & Dataguard.
Performance monitoring and tuning OEM Grid Control.
Oracle GoldenGate experience.
SQL tuning, for improving performance.
Linux RHEL and OEL
SQL & PL / SQL development skills
Ensure that Worldpay Information Security policies and guidelines are adhered to for all platform services.
Interface and maintain relations with other Worldpay IT teams.
Participation in 18X5 office hours rota and be available for out-of-hours work as required.
Participate in Weekend Development support activities, supporting database implementations based on rotational duties.
Experience in support of Oracle database solutions in financial (or equivalent) services.
Experience in Managing databases in Unix platforms.
Experience of complex online applications and / or the finance industry.
Demonstrable track record in delivering work to schedule and specification.
Experience of database design in large database systems
Good knowledge of database security and auditing, along with exposure to PCI-DSS
Experience of highly available complex online systems
Experience with automation of databases tasks.
Production support experience.
Strong Oracle Database Administration experience.
Experience of managing multiple RDBMS on large systems.
Experience of working in a team that delivers a high availability service.
Practical experience in managing RAC databases.
Experience of working with a Test / Development, PPE and Production administration life cycle.
Oracle Certification, preferably OCP
Strong communication & syndication skills : capable of translating complex technical concepts in to clear, concise documentation and presentations with minimal reliance on industry jargon.
Capable of presenting to a wide audience of stakeholders of varying technical backgrounds. Able to bring stakeholders to a common conclusion in the best interests of Worldpay.
Ability to take the initiative, moving issues forward with clarity. Demonstrate an ability to think outside the box’ while defining solutions in a workable form.
